Why is it so difficult to lose weight with hypothyroidism
The thyroid hormones T3 and T4 control cellular metabolism throughout the body, when there is not enough of them for any reason, this metabolic function slows and becomes impaired.
It’s hard to lose weight with hypothyroidism because when your thyroid gland is underactive, your metabolism slows down. A slow metabolism often means weight gain and can also lead to slower progress when losing weight.
